the Grad Show will take over OCAD from May 5 to May 8, for the biggest exhibition of the year! ALSO - time for some self promotion --- I'm proud to say I have 3 pieces on display this year, which is super exciting!!! ('Travelling Spoon', '1964 Trabant Model Car', and 'Woven Abstract Pendant') ... to see them, check out the Silversmithing Spoon Project on the 5th floor (right in front of the Design Office, just outside of the express elevators)... and check out the Jewellery Studio (2nd floor, North end of the building)... this is a must see event, so don't miss it! hope to see you there! xo -A OCAD GRAD SHOW OCAD (Main Campus) 100 McCaul Street Toronto, Ontario FREE Grad Show Schedule: Thursday, May 5, 2011, Opening Night 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 6 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 7 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 8 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.  exciting news! 2 of my pieces have been accepted into the OCAD 2011 Retrospective Show!!!
the Retrospective Show is entirely curated, produced, juried and installed by OCAD students, and is spondered by the OCAD Student Union... the show features works from all years and all disciplines, including drawing and painting, illustration, graphic design, sculpture and installation, jewellery, etc... the show is on until April 18 in the Great Hall (2nd floor, OCAD, 100 McCaul), and for those interested, there is an opening reception on Wednesday April 6 at 7pm... make sure to check the show out! xo -A  the car is finally done!!! HALLELUJAH!!!!! that only took about a month... (which translates into about 70+ hours......... eee, crazy to believe, right!!?!) i'm extremely happy with the final result, but i'm also very happy that the car is FINALLY finished!!! i think i'll stick to looking at cars instead of fabricating them from now on.... but, we'll see! i did have a lot of fun working on it (ps - thanks for the torch help ladies) this car is a model of a 1964 Trabant, featured in the movie Everything is Illuminated. A novel, turned movie, Everything is Illuminated is about a 'young American Jew, named Jonathan Safran Foer, who journeys to the Ukraine in search of Augustine, the woman who saved his grandfather's life from the Nazi's in Trachimbrod'. if you haven't seen it yet, you should definitely check out the movie Everything is Illuminated (starring Elijah Wood, from Lord of the Rings)... great movie, great characters, great car!!! make sure to check out my portfolio for a closer look at the car, and other updated photos! happy wednesday! xo -A  well, here in toronto, it is a snow day! YES! and what's better than a snow day?! a productive snow day!! today, i was FINALLY able to come up with a design that i am happy with for my business cards!!! VICTORY! i have been stressing over them like a crazy person! but i am extremely happy with the final product that i have come up with... here it is!! xo -A  spent the weekend and all day today in the studio doing silversmithing... what a workout! my right arm is now a 'monster-ous' beast compared to my left.... i have realized how out of shape i am.... but, seriously... who has time to work out these days?! i barely have enough time to eat..... or sleep....
